Rockhall Tower B&B.
Rockhall is a 16th century Tower House set in an idyllic location, well situated for exploring Southwest Scotland. All bedrooms are en-suite with views across Dumfries to Criffel or the house’s gardens.
Amongst the 10.65 acres at Rockhall Tower are sweeping lawns, mature woodland, walnut groves, a winding burn and established trees. There is a wedding stone dated 1720 marking a Greirson wedding and a mystery grade B-listed monument, said to mark the grave of
a once well-loved horse.
You can wander around and enjoy the wildlife which consists of pheasants, frogs, if you are lucky a hare, toads, a huge amount of different bird species (music to the ears) our animals dogs and cats might go with you because they are extremely sociable!

We bought Rockhall in August 2018, after selling up our business, home and changing our whole lives completely. I (Kirsty) was born and bred in Dumfries and after spending time in the Middle East and other parts of Scotland since I was a late teenager, it was time to go home. Callum has done his share of dotting about too - born in East Lothian, living in London as a boy, East Lothian again, West Lothian (where our children were born) and Aberdeen. We found this place, fell head over heels with it and wake up every morning pinching ourselves!

Type of Accommodation
We have two letting rooms, both en-suite at the very top of the house, so the views towards Criffel and the Solway Coast in The Angus are quite wonderful. We provide binoculars in Angus! Beltie has great views of the acres of mature woodland, pond and beautiful flora and fauna. We have a self service start to your first meal of the day consisting of fresh fruit, yoghurts, nuts and seeds, and cereals. We serve you a choice of Filter coffee and various flavours of tea. You can then have your pre booked (we are mindful of waste) hot course of delicious local Scottish breakfast staples including haggis, black pudding, sausages, tomatoes, eggs etc. You might not manage lunch!
You are free to sit in the breakfast room which has a cosy open fire and near the hallway you will find a guest space with a log burner. We are bookworms, so you'll find a vast range of books to borrow on your stay. We are happy to have a chat with you and help in any way. The house is large, so ring the bell if you need anything!
Rockhall bed and breakfast is evolving. The wall spaces are a little bereft at the moment, we are just wondering where to place it all. THE BOOKS- currently in the loft and office piled up. There is a bit of a debate going on about shelves, so I'm piling them in the second floor ( in a sort of uniform fashion) awaiting Mr R to do the joinery thingy!
What visitors say
I can't express how amazing this place is! Full of history and tales of bygone eras, complete with wonderful hosts and comfortable surroundings! A must if your looking for a unique and relaxing getaway.
This is a truly marvellous location. Kirsty is the most attentive host, and her touch is exquisite. We stayed in a beautiful room ('Angus') which was decorated, furnished and prepared at 5* hotel level; we also had the most outstanding views over the Scottish countryside. Breakfast (a 'full Scottish', preceded by cereals etc) was equally generous and well-prepared and Kirsty. All in all, this is one of the very best Airbnb locations in which we have stayed (and there have been many....), representing outstanding value for money. Signed, Sir Clive Loader.
Loved staying at Rockhall. Beautiful place, great night sleep, wonderful hosts. Kirsty and Callum couldn't have been better. Would recommend Rockhall to anyone. A real privilege to stay in this beautiful home.
